{"id":27798,"date":"2022-10-04T10:27:37","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T07:27:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.athens-science-festival.gr\/en\/?p=27798"},"modified":"2022-10-21T23:05:26","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T20:05:26","slug":"alessandra-mazzai-are-we-prepared-for-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.old.athens-science-festival.gr\/en\/old-news-en\/alessandra-mazzai-are-we-prepared-for-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Alessandra Mazzai: &#8220;Are we prepared for change?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At <strong>Athens Science Festival 2022<\/strong> we have the honor to welcome <strong>Alessandra Mazzai<\/strong>, communications officer at the CMCC Foundation &#8211; Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change who will talk to us about Climate Change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In her article in Climate Foresight last March, she pointed out that <\/span><b>complex<\/b> <b><i>problems, such as the climate crisis, need solutions.<\/i><\/b> <b><i>Climate solutions require knowledge and information derived from science and data.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do we have what it takes to manage rapid climate change?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What could contribute to improving the existing situation?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What each of us individually could do to fight climate change?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Very different worlds would result from either prompt and strong action, which would succeed in keeping temperature rise below tw\u03bf degrees, or giving up the challenge, which would bring up to over four degrees of warming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alessandra Mazzai, in her very topical, yet interesting, talk with the title &#8220;Are we prepared for change?&#8221; will tell us about how the climate is changing due to human choices in the past, but also in the present, and how what we do today has the power to shape many possible futures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, it will analyze how communication can fill the gap between knowledge and action to move rapidly along the more favorable path because what is needed is a pervasive change of our societies, and not for the good of the planet, but because climate action pays off for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>10 facts about Alessandra Mazzai:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) She is communication officer at the CMCC Foundation \u2013 Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2)Handles editorial, communications, and outreach activities\u2014including the press office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3)She has experience in coordinating communication activities for EU H2020 projects but also in organizing events\/webinars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4)She has a Master in Environmental and Energy Economics and Management (MEMAE, 2009) from Bocconi University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5)She has a master\u2019s degree in Communication Strategies from the University of Padua (2013).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6)She was communications and external relations manager at the International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG) and project manager at the CMCC Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7)She has worked in the Fundraising Office of the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8)She co-authored, with Professor Carlo Carraro, the books \u201cIl clima che cambia. Non solo un problema ambientale\u201d (Il Mulino, 2015) &amp; \u201cThe impacts of climate change in Italy.
