However, when these two worlds come together, true magic happens \u2013 innovation is born.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this year&#8217;s<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.old.athens-science-festival.gr\/en\/\"> <b>Athens Science Festival<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we invite you to attend art exhibitions that promise to captivate, impress, and offer you a fresh perspective on a wide range of topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A groundbreaking exhibition titled &#8220;<\/span><b><i>Deceptive Vision: Illusions and the Brain<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; will be presented by <\/span><b>Dr. Lefkothea-Vasiliki Andreou<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uoi.gr\/en\/education\/departments\/department-biological-applications-technology\/\"> <b>Department of Biological Applications and Technologies<\/b> <b>at the<\/b> <b>University of Ioannina<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with her team. What can we learn from illusions \u2013 the &#8216;mistakes&#8217; of our brain? The exhibition combines art with <\/span><b>3D printing technology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to create objects that, arranged in a specific way, are able to &#8220;trick&#8221; our brains!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The European program<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mednight.eu\/\"> <b>MEDNIGHT<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Mediterranean Researcher\u2019s Night) introduces itself through two different yet equally fascinating activities:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the &#8220;<\/span><b><i>Mednight expedition: the ports of Science<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;, researchers from Mediterranean universities and research institutions board boats and take us on a &#8220;marine&#8221; documentary journey. Thus, we will have the opportunity to see the condition of the seas surrounding Mediterranean countries and to be informed about contemporary issues such as climate change, health, and pollution. | <\/span><b><i>Screenings: 17:00<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><b><i>18:00<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><b><i>19:00<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><b><i>20:00<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The portrait exhibition &#8220;<\/span><b><i>Mediterranean Women in Health<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; has been created to honour women from the Mediterranean who have contributed to improving health and quality of life. These are women who challenged conventions, excelled, and pioneered in their fields, be it research, healthcare, education, or volunteering, yet have not received the recognition they deserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A unique photography exhibition titled \u201c<\/span><b><i>STEM in Tanzania: Science for Change<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will &#8220;transport&#8221; us to distant Africa, allowing us to discover the &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/scico.gr\/activities\/stem-volunteer-program-in-tanzania\/\"><b><i>STEM in Tanzania<\/i><\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; volunteer program. This program is implemented by<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/scico.gr\/en\/\"> <b>SciCo &#8211; Science Communication<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in collaboration with the nonprofit organizations<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wheeling2help.com\/\"> <b>Wheeling2help<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.karibusana.com\/\"><b>SANA &#8211; Saving Africa&#8217;s Nature<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and with the support of<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kijanicollection.com\/\"> <b>Miseni Retreat<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
