We often perceive science and art as two unrelated, perhaps even contradictory concepts. However, when these two worlds come together, true magic happens \u2013 innovation is born.<\/span><\/p>\n

At this year’s<\/span> Athens Science Festival<\/b><\/a>, we invite you to attend art exhibitions that promise to captivate, impress, and offer you a fresh perspective on a wide range of topics.<\/span><\/p>\n

A groundbreaking exhibition titled “<\/span>Deceptive Vision: Illusions and the Brain<\/i><\/b>” will be presented by <\/span>Dr. Lefkothea-Vasiliki Andreou<\/b> of the<\/span> Department of Biological Applications and Technologies<\/b> at the<\/b> University of Ioannina<\/b><\/a>, along with her team. What can we learn from illusions \u2013 the ‘mistakes’ of our brain? The exhibition combines art with <\/span>3D printing technology<\/b> to create objects that, arranged in a specific way, are able to “trick” our brains!<\/span><\/p>\n

The European program<\/span> MEDNIGHT<\/b><\/a> (Mediterranean Researcher\u2019s Night) introduces itself through two different yet equally fascinating activities:<\/span><\/p>\n

At the “<\/span>Mednight expedition: the ports of Science<\/i><\/b>“, researchers from Mediterranean universities and research institutions board boats and take us on a “marine” documentary journey. Thus, we will have the opportunity to see the condition of the seas surrounding Mediterranean countries and to be informed about contemporary issues such as climate change, health, and pollution. | <\/span>Screenings: 17:00<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>18:00<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>19:00<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>20:00<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

The portrait exhibition “<\/span>Mediterranean Women in Health<\/i><\/b>” has been created to honour women from the Mediterranean who have contributed to improving health and quality of life. These are women who challenged conventions, excelled, and pioneered in their fields, be it research, healthcare, education, or volunteering, yet have not received the recognition they deserve.<\/span><\/p>\n

A unique photography exhibition titled \u201c<\/span>STEM in Tanzania: Science for Change<\/i><\/b>\u201d<\/span><\/i> will “transport” us to distant Africa, allowing us to discover the “<\/span>STEM in Tanzania<\/i><\/b><\/a>” volunteer program. This program is implemented by<\/span> SciCo – Science Communication<\/b><\/a> in collaboration with the nonprofit organizations<\/span> Wheeling2help<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>SANA – Saving Africa’s Nature<\/b><\/a>, and with the support of<\/span> Miseni Retreat<\/b><\/a>. Follow the Science Dreamers and get a close look at the program that aims to empower educators and students to provide high-quality STEM education in their country \u2013 giving them the opportunity to make their dreams come true!<\/span><\/p>\n
